PURPOSE: A binder for forming an electrode of a lithium secondary battery is provided to ensure electrochemically excellent stability, adhesive property and flexibility. CONSTITUTION: In a binder for an electrode of a lithium secondary battery for fixing and connecting electrode active material particles, and the electrode active material particles and a current collector, the binder is a copolymer including (a) a styrenic monomer unit, (b) 1,3-butadiene monomer unit, (c) butyl acrylate monomer unit, and (d) ethyl hexyl acrylate monomer unit. The content of components (a), (b), (c) and (d) are respectively 5-20 weight%, 10-30 weight%, 40-80 weight% and 5-20 weight%.
