发明名称 Type selecting mechanism for high speed printers
摘要 1,024,999. Selective printing. ANELEX CORPORATION. June 26, 1964 [Oct. 25, 1963], No. 26429/64. Heading B6F. Type - wheel machines; rotary type selection; record controlled input; multiple type selection; power assisted type actions.-A selective printer comprises a plurality of rotatably mounted type wheels 10, co-operating with type selecting gears 14 drivingly connected to a drive shaft 18 through overrunning clutches to present selected characters at a printing position. In operation the type-selecting cycle is initiated by a motor 108, which drives a cam-shaft 106 whereby a cam 142 releases a bail 150 co - operating with short teeth 152 on the gears 14, which bail checks the initial alignment of the type wheels 10, and subsequently a cam 140 lowers a stop comb 80, whose teeth 83 co-operate with stop pins 46 on the gears 14, to release the latter for rotation with the drive shaft 18, which starts to rotate when a cam 122 on continued rotation of the shaft 106 disengages a pawl 124 from obturating engagement with a pin 130 on a one-revolution clutch 112 driving said shaft 18. Mounted on said shaft 18 and associated with the type wheels 10 is a rotary switch 94, having a roller 98 which momentarily closes an associated circuit to indicate the arrival of a corresponding type character at the printing station. The selected type characters are indicated by punched holes in a record card, whereby the punched holes cause establishment of electrical circuits (Fig. 6, not shown) incorporating solenoids 78, which solenoids release latches 70, co-operating with pawls 50. The displaced pawls 50 intercept the associated type-wheels 10. A completion of one revolution of the shaft 18 all type-wheels are set and the shaft is arrested by the pin 130 engaging the pawl 124. Hammer-impression arrangements.-A single hammer (not shown) is displaced to effect impression of the line of selected characters. Type-wheel resetting arrangements.-Following impression a cam 138 on the rotating shaft 106 pivots a bell-crank 60, which raises a bail 52 to raise the pawls 50 out of engagement with the gears 14 and the cam 140 raises the stop comb 80 so that its teeth 83 may engage the stop pins 46 on the gears 14, which begin to rotate when the shaft 18 is engaged by the clutch 112 on pivoted release of the pawl 124 engaging the pin 130. The stop comb 80 is further associated with an index arm 90 cooperating with an index pin 102 on the rotary switch 94 so that on completion of one revolution by the shaft 18 all type-wheels 10 and the switch 94 are reset to their original positions. Finally the cam 142 raises the bail 150, which when it engages all short teeth 152, closes a switch 154 to produce a signal, which may be used to initiate a fresh typesetting cycle. Types, discs and printing surfaces.-Each type-wheel has a fount of characters arranged peripherally on gear-teeth 12 and the characters are formed on lands 16 of the teeth.
