PURPOSE: A robot cleaner and a control method thereof are provided to prevent a robot cleaner from repetitively moving in a specified section by saving information about movement routes thereof. CONSTITUTION: A robot cleaner comprises a storage unit(140) and a controller(150). The storage unit successively stores information about movement routes of a robot cleaner and information about movement direction. If the controller determines that the robot cleaner repetitively moves in the same section, the controller controls the movement of the robot cleaner in the opposite direction to the saved movement direction based on the saved information.
