The coupling element (1) has three rods (2) including ends (3,4) whose end faces (5) are acoustically coupled with the sound-emitting and sound receiving areas of an ultrasonic transducer element respectively. The end faces of three rods form coupling surfaces (7). The cross sections of the rods are different in shape and size.
