PURPOSE: A navigation system and a control method of a navigation system for a vehicle are provided to enable a user to easily check place information about a special spot by outputting place information about the spot selected by the user. CONSTITUTION: A control method of a navigation system for a vehicle comprises the following steps. Track information corresponding to image data is obtained using first position information mapped with the image data selected by a user(S510). A first controller of the navigation system for vehicles outputs the track of a vehicle based on track information on a display unit(S520). A special spot is selected among vehicles tracks displayed on the display unit(S530). The first controller obtains second location information corresponding to the spot selected by the user from map data(S540). The first controller obtains place information from the map data using the second position information(S550). The first controller outputs the place information in the display unit(S560).
