The device has a transmitting reel (3), a take-up reel (7) and a guide roller (6) of an abrasive support (2) i.e. ribbon shaped abrasive support, where the reels and the guide roller are positioned in order to define a rectilinear section on a path that is utilized for a belt-grinding operation on a metal piece (1). A driving roller (4) is placed in the path to support the support between the transmitting reel and the guide roller, and between the guide roller and the take-up reel. An adjusting roller (8) is placed on the path of the support between the driving roller and one of the reels. An independent claim is also included for a method for belt-grinding a metal piece along a rectilinear section located between two roller guides.
