The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition or functional health food composition used for the treatment, prevention or alleviation of cardiac hypertrophy, comprising raspberry extract as an active ingredient. The composition of the present invention is effective in treating, preventing or alleviating not only cardiac hypertrophy but also various cardiovascular diseases arising therefrom. The raspberry extract of the present invention has virtually no toxicity or side effects, exhibits a cardiac hypertrophy inhibiting action at a dose which does not affect blood pressure and heart rate, and may be used safely even for long-term preventive treatment. |
