PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ram deflection correcting device which can correct a displacement and an inclination of an end of a ram at the same time, and a correcting method. SOLUTION: The ram deflection correcting device for correcting the deflection of the ram 15 of a machine tool supported by a saddle so as to be movable in a horizontal direction H includes a first tension bar 21 provided above a central line L of the ram 15 along the horizontal direction H to apply a tension force F1 for pulling upward the end of the ram 15 inside and a second tension bar 22 provided above the central line L of the ram 15 along the horizontal direction H to apply a tension force F2 for pulling inside a position located inside the end of the first tension bar 21.
