A power supply system for an implant includes an external power supply module. The external power supply module includes a first power signal transmission module having a first coil for transmitting a first electrical power signal across the skin of a user to the implant, and a first rechargeable battery for supplying power to the power signal transmission module. The power supply system further includes an external charger for recharging the first rechargeable battery.
