The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a Factor H preparation for therapeutic use including the steps comprising: (i) obtaining a fraction of blood plasma containing Factor H; (ii) subjecting the fraction obtained in step (i) to a single heparin affinity chromatography; (iii) subjecting the fraction enriched with Factor H obtained in step (ii) to a cation exchange chromatography; (iv) subjecting the fraction enriched with Factor H obtained in step (iii) to an anion exchange chromatography, said method not including an additional heparin affinity chromatography step.
