<p>A solar energy collector, a method of collecting solar energy and a power generation system using the solar energy collector is described. The solar energy collector has at least one electromagnetic radiation source generate at least one guide layer in the atmosphere. The air in the guide layer having a different refractive index than air outside the guide layer. Positioning means are provided for positioning the or each guide layer at a predetermined angle to incident solar rays; and solar energy collecting means, wherein the predetermined angle is selected to be, substantially, the critical angle for the incident solar rays causing the solar rays to be refracted along the boundary between the guide layer and the air outside of the guide layer and the solar energy collection means arranged to collect at least part of the refracted solar rays.</p> |
