A process during which a request for copy processing is generated occurs at a web server between the time when a user selects a copy function of an MFP and when the copy actually starts. When the user issues an instruction to log out from the MFP at a predetermined point during the process, authentication context of the user is deleted from the MFP. With this, it is determined that the user has no permission, and the copy cannot be executed. To avoid this, execution of image processing is permitted in accordance with a received processing request if the received processing request corresponds to a processing request generated by an external device on the basis of operational information transmitted in accordance with operations performed by a logged-in user even when the user who uses an image forming device capable of communicating with the external device logs out.
