PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device mainly used for operating various electronic apparatus which is simple in structure, inexpensive and reliable in operation. SOLUTION: A spherical magnetic body 12 rotatably contained in an upper case 13 and a lower case 14 has a plurality of recesses 12A, 12B, etc., so that magnetic detection elements 19A, 19B, etc. can detect the magnetism of a magnet 18 arranged under the magnetic body 12 via the entire spherical magnetic body 12. The magnetic detection is enabled even if the magnetism of the magnet 18 is weak to dispense with parts such as a shield member and make the device simple in structure and inexpensive.
