[Also in Division G4] In apparatus for counting or separating sheets in which corners of successive sheets are turned up, pressure on the counting device 10 due to the weight of the stack above is reduced by pneumatic rams 25 which lift a number of sheets as the counting device 10 works its way down the stack. The rams 25 are arranged in groups of four or five and when all of a group have operated a further ram, not shown, lifts the support for the group to increase the lift.
