In a process to manufacture heavy-duty paper sacks for e.g. cement powder, the paper web is cut to lengths that are folded and glued into open-ended essentially tubular units, then folded flat and placed on a stack. A rotary pick-up (3) assembly lifts the top sack from the pile and transfers it sideways to a conveyer to e.g. the bag bottom-closing stage. The speed of the rotary pick-up is adjustable to the speed of the conveyer.
