<p>Disclosed is a portable terminal that is provided with a touch pad that, upon detection of contact, outputs a value indicating a degree of contact, wherein said portable terminal holds a first threshold for determining a range assigned for processing to be executed and a second threshold that is less than the first threshold, calculates a value indicating a degree of contact for each range wherein contact upon the touch pad has been detected, on the basis of a value indicating a degree of contact output by the touch pad, assesses whether or not there are two ranges among the ranges where contact upon the touch pad has been detected that are not mutually adjacent and where the calculated values are greater than or equal to the second threshold, determines one range wherein the calculated value is greater than or equal to the first threshold as the range assigned for processing to be executed if a negative assessment is made, and does not make the determination on the range assigned for processing if a positive assessment is made.</p> |
