PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set function limitation information for each user in an image forming apparatus while reducing a manager's working burden without the needing for a special server device or the like.

SOLUTION: In this image forming system 1 in which a computer 4 is connected to the image forming apparatus 2 through a network 5, when the computer 4 installs a driver program 9b for operating the image forming apparatus 2, the computer 4 extracts function limitation information 10 on the image forming apparatus 2 attached to the driver program 9b, and transmits to the image forming apparatus 2 the extracted function limitation information 10 together with user identification information for identifying a user. The image forming apparatus 2 includes a storage device for storing user information in which the user is registered, and when receiving the user identification information and function limitation information transmitted from the computer 4, the image forming apparatus 2 associates the received user identification information and function limitation information with each other to register them in the user information.
