<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to improve compression rate more than conventional one when compressing the head of compression target data using an LZ method. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 100 has a storage (141) that has an input area (411) into which compression target raster data are inputted, and a dictionary area (412) into which the raster data are shifted from the input area (411) and stored, and a compression controller (142) which inputs raster data into the input area (411), compresses a partial sequence that matches continuous data sequences from some point of the dictionary area (412) and generates compressed data, and shifts the raster data to the dictionary area (412).
