METHOD FOR PRODUCING PHENYLACETAMIDE COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a phenylacetamide compound having an alkoxy group at the second position.

SOLUTION: A phenylacetamide compound having a hydroxy group at the second position is reacted with a dialkyl sulfate represented by formula (3) in the presence of a base to produce a 2-substituted phenyl-N-alkylacetamide compound represented by formula (1), (wherein Q indicates a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom; R4and Ar indicate each a phenyl group that may have a substituent; and either one of R2and R5indicates a hydrogen atom).
