PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device for reproducing recorded data until data is interrupted when data recording is interrupted. SOLUTION: A main CPU performs control so that a file in a prescribed format where a real data file and a management information file are made in a pair is to be stored in a first folder 401 arranged in a hard disk drive. The main CPU stores the real data file in a second folder 402 if the management information file which is to be the pair with the real data file generated before power is cut is not normally generated when supply of the power is instructed after the power is cut and the recording and reproducing device is set to be an operation state.
