A method, mobile management unit and gateway for restricting the Machine Type Communication (MTC) device to access and communicate are provided by this invention. The method includes the following steps: a mobile management unit judges whether the current access request or service request of the MTC device is in the permission period according to the permission period of the MTC device; If the current request is not in the permission period, the mobile management unit rejects the access request or service request of the MTC device and informs the MTC device of the rejection reason and/or the permission period. With the present invention, it can be ensured that the MTC device communicates only in the permission period. And the operator the MTC device is refused to access the network or is permitted to communicating by the operator requirement in the non-permission period.
