PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for certainly protecting a width adjusting apparatus by a mechanical interlock and further for securing the amount of width adjustment at the maximum in a low speed operation such as in stationary pre-forming so as to contribute to improvement in productivity. SOLUTION: A flying sizing press applies width-reduction pressing to a slab while moving dies 2, which are arranged facing each other across a slab passage 1, by a crankshaft 3. The flying sizing press is incorporated with an interlock mechanism for detecting the rotational speed of the crankshaft 3 and for decreasing the maximum speed of a width adjusting apparatus 6 according to rising of the rotational speed. The braking time is reduced in the case where the rotational speed of the crankshaft 3 is high, and the amount of width adjustment is increased in the case where the rotational speed of the crankshaft 3 is low.
