PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an envelope for a flash lamp without causing the deterioration of a front lens and the reduction of the light quantity of the lamp even if the flash lamp has a small size. SOLUTION: The flash lamp is configured to include glass containing, by mass, 45-80% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 11-22% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-15% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 9-25% Cs<SB>2</SB>O, 0.001-0.1% Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and 0-2% TiO<SB>2</SB>.
