PURPOSE: A negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery is provided to increase the charge and discharge capacity of a battery using porous carbon having mesopore of uniform size. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery comprises the steps of: (120) heating an aqueous solution containing starch and cooling the aqueous solution to form a starch-gel; (130) oxidation-stabilizing the starch-gel at 200-300°C; and (140) carbonizing the oxidation-stabilized starch-gel at 700-1500°C to form porous carbon with specific surface area of 320-480 m^2/g. |
