PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify necessity with respect to a system and method to consolidate index creation functions which are executed by a plurality of applications on the system and to cope with necessity. SOLUTION: This method executed by a computer for creating an index of the data used by the plurality of applications includes: receiving a data object by a first application of the plurality of applications, converting a common-format data object into a token, and extracting the token from the data object; and a creating the index of the token extracted from the data object. The index is formatted such that the index is used by each of the plurality of applications. The method also includes that the plurality of applications store the index into a database accessible by the plurality of applications, and the plurality of applications may include two or more application types.
