AEROGEL/PTFE COMPOSITE INSULATING MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material containing an aerogel particle manufactured without an increase in a manufacturing cost.

SOLUTION: The material is formed containing the aerogel particle and a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) binder and having a thermal conductivity of≤25 mW/mK under the atmospheric condition. The material can be molded or formed, and the filler particle hardly drops or does not drop at all. For example, a structure or composite such as a tape can be formed by bonding the material between two outer layers. The composite can be advantageously folded, stretched or bent without producing remarkable dust or a loss of the insulating property.
