PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antigen detection method for obtaining a sure result. SOLUTION: The antigen detection method comprises the reaction of a first antibody specific to an antigen to be detected and labeled by a detectable material, a second antibody specific to the antigen to be detected and immobilized on a base substrate, and a sample possibly containing the antigen in the presence of a N-substituted maleimide compound, so that it is determined whether the antigen exists or not by detecting a signal derived from a label contained in an obtained immune complex.
