PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle traveling control device that properly performs follow-up control according to the state of a preceding vehicle. SOLUTION: A vehicle 21 is controlled to follow up a preceding vehicle 22 traveling ahead along the traveling direction in which the vehicle 21 travels, on the basis of an average speed Vav of a preceding vehicle group 25 including at least the preceding vehicle 22 and a vehicle 23 next to the preceding vehicle running ahead along the direction in which the preceding vehicle 22 travels, and the inter-vehicle direction Dr between the vehicle 21 and the preceding vehicle 22.
