PURPOSE: A scrap discharge apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to improve productivity by automatically discharging scrap to the outside of a press by interlocking with the movement of upper and lower molds. CONSTITUTION: A scrap discharge apparatus(1) comprises a blade unit(20), a die unit(30), and a discharge unit(40). The blade unit is installed on a side of the die unit and cuts a work piece(16) protruding from upper and lower molds(12,14). The discharge unit is connected by a hinge to the die unit and comprises an ejecting member(42) which supports the underside of the scrap cut out from the work piece and is rotated to discharge the scrap.
