<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve brightness sensed with eyes while improving luminance. <P>SOLUTION: A backlight source 24 has a spectral distribution such that, luminances of red light and green light are stronger than that of blue light in both cases. A color filter 100 includes a blue colored layer 106 most transmitting the blue light, a red colored layer 102 most transmitting the red light, a green colored layer 104 most transmitting the green light, and a porous layer 108 formed with a plurality of through holes 94 penetrating in a thickness direction. The blue colored layer 106 is formed thicker than the red colored layer 102 and the green colored layer 104. A liquid crystal layer 20 is formed thinner than a part facing the red colored layer 102 and the green colored layer 104 on a part facing the blue colored layer 106.
