<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device for reducing the load on users and achieving simple and reliable operation. <P>SOLUTION: The video display device includes: an imaging part 11 for acquiring a subject image including a person who operates the device; a distance information acquisition part 15 for acquiring distance information from a subject; a hand position determination part 17 for determining the position of the hand of the user from the subject image; an action recognition part 18 for recognizing an action of the user from the hand position and a change in the hand position; and a display control part 20 for controlling video display and drawing on an operation screen according to the recognized action.
