SECURITY SYSTEM AND AUTHENTICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a confidentiality-excellent security system which permits access to peripheral equipment, to which access is restricted only in a specific narrow range.

SOLUTION: The security system 11 includes: a terminal device 21 which is connected to peripheral equipment 101 to which access is restricted; and an illumination light source 30. The illumination light source 30 includes a modulator 31 which optically modulates illumination light 200 to output a light modulation signal 201 which carries on it authentication information 80 which authenticates the bestowal of a device access right to the terminal device 21. The terminal device 21 includes an authentication means 71 which permits the access to the peripheral equipment 101 from the terminal device 21 on condition that the terminal device 21 is authenticated to have the device access right on the basis of the authentication information 80 obtained by receiving and demodulating the light modulation signal 201.
