PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cation exchange resin which exhibits an excellent catalytic activity and catalyst life when producing bisphenol compounds by a condensation reaction of a phenol compound with a carbonyl compound. SOLUTION: The cation exchange resin for production of bisphenol compounds has an oxidation-resistant TOC dissolution behavior, obtained by the following (1) to (3) steps, of 100 (mg-TOC/L-resin) or less: (1) 100 mL of ultrapure water having a TOC of 10 ppb or less is added to 40 mL of the cation exchange resin, a supernatant liquid is collected after shaking the mixture at 40°C for 20 hours, and its TOC value (initial TOC value) is measured; (2) 0.1 wt.% hydrogen peroxide solution diluted with the ultrapure water having a TOC of 10 ppb or less is added instead of the ultrapure water of (1), and a TOC value (oxidized TOC value) is measured in the same manner; and (3) the oxidation-resistant TOC dissolution behavior is calculated from (the oxidized TOC value)-(the initial TOC value).
