PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transition metal complex becoming a catalyst component producing 1-hexene by the trimerization of ethylene efficiently in good selectivity even under a high temperature condition.

SOLUTION: This transition metal complex is expressed by formula (1). The trimerization catalyst component includes the transition metal complex. The method for producing 1-hexene includes using the trimerization catalyst. The method for producing an ethylene-based polymer includes polymerizing ethylene in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst obtained by bringing an olefin polymerization catalyst component, the trimerization catalyst component comprising the transition metal complex expressed by formula (1) and an activating co-catalyst component into contact therewith.
