PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hairdressing agent that imparts excellent softness after setting when a floating style is formed and does not damage the setting power even when a voluminous curl is formed. SOLUTION: The hairdressing agent includes [A] a wax or a hydrocarbon solid at 25°C, [B] hydroxypropyl starch phosphoric acid or a salt thereof, or agar, [C] a higher fatty acid and an alkali agent and [D] water. Preferably, the compounding ratio of the alkali agent based on 100 pts.mass of the fatty acid in the component [C] in the hairdressing agent is at least 1 pt.mass and at most 20 pts.mass. Preferably, the hair dressing agent further contains [E] a nonvolatile oily component liquid at 25°C. The hair dressing agent may further contain [F] volatile silicone.
