PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery capable of improving both initial characteristics and charge discharge characteristics, in the nonaqueous electrolyte battery using a solvent of a propylene carbonate system. SOLUTION: A negative electrode 5 has a structure with negative electrode active material layers 14 formed on both sides of an negative electrode collector 13. The negative electrode active material layer 14 contains a negative electrode active material and a binder. As the negative electrode active material, graphite structured of graphite with only a hexagonal crystal structure and a coating layer made of low crystalline carbon coating at least a part of the graphite is used.
