PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical alumina powder rich in isolated OH groups and having further enhanced adhesion to silicone resins, a method for producing the same, and a spherical alumina powder-resin composition using the same. SOLUTION: There is provided the spherical alumina powder having an average particle diameter of ≤100 μm, an average sphericity of ≥0.90, a number of isolated OH groups of 10-40/nm<SP>2</SP>, and a ratio of (number of isolated OH groups/number of H-bonded OH groups) of ≥1.0. There is provided the method for producing the spherical alumina powder having an average particle diameter of ≤100 μm, an average sphericity of ≥0.90, a number of isolated OH groups of 10-40/nm<SP>2</SP>, and a ratio of (number of isolated OH groups/number of H-bonded OH groups) of ≥1.0, in which an alumina raw material having an average particle diameter of ≤100 μm is flame-melted at 2,200-2,600°C, and quenching is performed by spraying 40-120 L/h of water.
