PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transfer device capable of performing holding actions for articles of a plurality of shapes by abutting on side peripheral parts of the articles and transferring the articles of the plurality of shapes. SOLUTION: This article transfer device includes a body mounting part for freely mounting and supporting the article B, a pair of holding bodies 20 which are capable of freely approaching/separating in a horizontal direction and are capable of freely advancing and retreating to/from a retirement position retired to the body mounting part side and a projection position projected to a transfer object portion side from the body mounting part, a holding state switching means capable of freely switching a holding state for holding the article B from both sides by performing approaching operations of the pair of holding bodies 20 and a releasing state for releasing the holding of the article B by performing separating operations of the holding bodies 20, and an advancing/retracting driving means for advancing/retreating driving the pair of the holding bodies 20 to/from the retirement position and projection position. Each of the pair of holding bodies 20 includes a plurality of holding action parts 38 performing the holding actions for each of a plurality of kinds of articles B1 and B2 of the different shapes in the holding states by abutting the side peripheral parts of the articles B1 and B2.
