PURPOSE: A variable intake system for an engine is provided to reduce low speed booming noise in low speed running and increase output in high speed running by the variation of effective cross-sectional area and length of an engine intake duct. CONSTITUTION: A variable intake system for an engine comprises a variable valve(3), a vacuum hose(5), and an air pressure actuator(7). The variable valve opens and closes a high-speed duct(9). The variable valve rotates inside the high-speed duct. The vacuum hose directly connects the air pressure actuator and a surge tank. The vacuum hose connects to the surge tank of the engine. The air pressure actuator connects to the vacuum hose. The air pressure actuator closes the high-speed duct with the variable valve. The air pressure actuator opens the high-speed duct. The air pressure actuator comprises an elastic member.
