OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE TYPE OPTICAL MODULATOR WITH OUTPUT LIGHT MONITOR

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide type optical modulator with an output light monitor for more accurately detecting radiation mode light radiated as monitor output light from an optical waveguide even with a thin plate used as a dielectric substrate. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide type optical modulator with the output light monitor having an optical waveguide element in which an optical waveguide 2 is formed on a dielectric substrate 1, an optical fiber reinforcing member 4 for reinforcing the connection of an optical fiber 3 to the optical waveguide element, and a photodetector for receiving radiation mode light radiated from a part of the optical waveguide through the optical fiber reinforcing member is provided with a non-coupled light shielding means 32 for preventing light non-coupled with an output part of the optical waveguide 2 and the optical fiber 3 from being made incident on the photodetector in a hollow part of the optical fiber reinforcing member 4.
