A method and an apparatus for selecting frequency partition are provided in the present invention. The method includes the following steps: a Resource Metric value (RM) is resumed from the quantized Resource Metric value RM received by the terminal according to a preset mapping rule (S202), wherein, the mapping rule is expressed by the formulas: when Y is greater than or equal to 0 and is less than 4, RM=(Y+?1)*0.125; when Y is greater than or equal to 4 and is less than 12, RM=(Y-4+?2)*0.3/8+0.5; when Y is greater than or equal to 12 and is less than 15, RM=(Y-12+?3)*0.05+0.8; wherein, Y is the quantized RM; ?1, ?2, ?3 are any real numbers, which are greater than or equal to 0 and are less than or equal to 1, respectively; and the selection for frequency partition is performed by the terminal according to the RM (S204). By applying the method and apparatus provided in the present invention, the RM can be resumed from the quantized Resource Metric value, and the terminal is helped to select the frequency partition.
