PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an installation method of a manhole cover receiving frame that can install the cover receiving frame on a cylindrical base wall or a foundation adjusting layer of a manhole with high work efficiency in a face support state at a predetermined accurate height so that the upper edge surface of the cover receiving frame is substantially flush with the surrounding existing paved road surface. SOLUTION: A height adjusting pavement material 19 with rolling compaction property is laid in a void above and around the cylindrical base wall 11 of the manhole while being compacted to such a height that spaces H1, H2 from the upper surface to the surrounding existing paved road surface 2 are smaller by lengths h1, h2 in a compressible range of the height adjusting pavement material 19 than the vertical length D of the cover receiving frame 21. The cover receiving frame 21 placed on the upper face of the height adjusting pavement material 19 and temporarily fixed is then pressed strongly downward by an adjusting bolt 15 and a nut 16, and the height adjusting pavement material 19 is further compressed by the lengths h1, h2 in the compressible range to press down and fix the cover receiving frame 21 until its upper edge surface is flush with the surrounding existing paved road surface 2.
