PURPOSE: A method for providing location information using a time period is provided to detect first location information which is about a current location, transmit a location inquiry request and specific time period information to an external device, receive second location information which is about the location of an external device from the external device for time corresponding to a specific time period, and display the locations of an electronic device and the external device using the first and second location information. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing location information comprises the following steps. First location information, which is about a current location, is detected. A location inquiry request and specific time period information are transmitted to an external device. Second location information, which is about the location of the external device, is received from the external device for time corresponding to a specific time period. The locations of an electronic device and the external device are displayed using the first and second location information.
