PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which inexpensively achieves electrical insulation by a simple structure. SOLUTION: The optical module 1 includes a laminate ceramic package 4 having ceramic layers 5 to 7. An optical element 2 is mounted on the lower ceramic layer 5. An electronic component 3 is mounted on the middle ceramic layer 6. The upper ceramic layer 7 constitutes the sidewall of the laminate ceramic package 4. The upper surface 7a and the lower surface 7b of the upper ceramic layer 7 are electrically insulated (separated) from each other. A metal sleeve 22 is coupled to the upper surface 7a of the upper ceramic layer 7 via a metal ring 14, a holder 16, and a joint 19.
