PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a failure of an RFID tag or a writing error in a POS system that settles the payment for a commodity using an RFID. SOLUTION: The POS system includes: an RFID tag attached to each commodity and containing at least commodity price specification data and weight specification data written thereon; a reading means for reading the price specification data and the weight specification data; a settling means for settling the payment for a commodity based on the price specification data read; a weight calculation means for calculating the total weight of the commodity based on the weight specification data read; a weight measurement means for measuring the total weight of the commodity to be read by an RFID reader; a comparison means for comparing the total weight calculated and the total weight measured; and an alert means for issuing an alarm if the comparison means detects that the total weight calculated does not match the total weight measured.
