The device has a coolant casing (12) arranged between inner and outer housings (2, 4). A medium i.e. exhaust gas, to be cooled flows into a channel (20) through an inlet (16). The channel has a channel section (22) that is led from the inlet into the inner housing and another channel section (26) that is led from the inner housing to an outlet (18). One of the channel sections (22) directly opens into the other channel section (26), where the channel sections are arranged in a fixed angle (alpha) to each other over the entire length of the sections. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a heat transfer device.
