PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for displaying a menu in an image display device are provided to easily input a command by the operation state of the image display device. CONSTITUTION: If an input of a menu key is detected, a control unit determines the output of an image including an audio data(210,215). If one of displayed lower menu is selected, the controller performs an operation according to the selected menu(240,245). According to the inputted menu key, the controller displays the volume control menu(220). If a key for controlling a volume level is inputted among local keys, the controller adjusts the audio volume according to the input direction of the local key(225,230).
