摘要 <p><PICT:1045602/C6-C7/1> A process of reducing finely divided iron ore by fluidized solids reduction comprises:-(a) reducing fluidized, finely divided iron ore, in the fluidized solids reactor 1, by means of a reducing gaseous mixture at an elevated temperature, (b) introducing all gases derived from the reduction into a circulatory system, via the conduit 2, wherein the moisture content of the gases is lowered by passage through a gas washer and cooler 3, and a certain amount of the gases is withdrawn from the system via the conduit 4, the remainder being returned by the pump 6, via the conduit 7, and the carbon dioxide absorber 8 or the bi-pass conduit 9, as required, to the reactor, (c) partially burning a fluid fuel with oxygen in the burner 11, the products of combustion, which are at a temp. of 2000 DEG -3500 DEG F, passing through the passageway 14 in the partition 13, and intermixing with the cooled and dried circulated gases, which enter the passage 14 from the passage 15, in such proportion that temperature of the mixture is 1500-1700 DEG F. A supplementary burner 17 may be placed in the upper part of the reactor. Oxygen for use in the combustion chamber is produced in the oxygen plant 10: the waste gas fuel leaving the system at 4 may be burnt to operate this plant, or may be used for the protection of reduced material taken out of the reactor.</p>
