VC HARDENING TREATMENT METHOD

PURPOSE: A heat treating method for hardening vanadium carbide is provided to prevent grain coarsening since dyebath temperature is fitted to the temperature of optimum austenizing temperature for the kind of the steel. CONSTITUTION: A heat treating method for hardening vanadium carbide comprises following steps. As the temperature of the reactive salt bath is controlled at 850~900°C, vanadium carbide to be hardened is salt-bathed for 10 hours. The vanadium carbide is dipped in oil of or nitrogen atmosphere at 50~70°C for half an hour. The vanadium carbide is tempered for an hour at 160°C.
