Control of quality of service is provided for a user equipment in a communication system comprising a home network and a visited network. Authorisation information (4, 5) is received at the user equipment from the home network, the authorisation information having data related to an entitlement to quality of service for the user equipment. The authorisation information is held at the user equipment, and a comparison (11) is performed of the entitlement to quality of service with a quality of service provided by the visited network. In dependence on the comparison, a message (13) is sent from the user equipment to the visited network requesting an upgrade of quality of service. Preferably authorization information is a result of application session signaling (e.g. SIP) or pre-configuration of the user equipment which may be performed using the Open Mobile Alliance (OAM) Device Management protocol. |
